Privacy
How Today I… handles your data.
The short version.
Your entries stay on your devices. There is no account, no server we operate, and no analytics. The app does not track you, does not advertise, and does not contain any third-party software development kits that do either.
Where your entries live.
When you add an entry, it's saved to your device's local storage. If you're signed in to iCloud on the device, the same entry syncs through your private iCloud to your other devices that have the app installed. That sync uses Apple's CloudKit — it's the same iCloud that already holds your Photos, Notes, and Messages.
We don't have access to your iCloud. We don't operate any server that sees your entries. Apple's iCloud terms govern the iCloud storage itself; the rest is local to your devices.
What the app does not do.
No analytics. No telemetry. No crash reporting beyond what Apple already provides through TestFlight and the App Store, which is anonymous by default and which you can disable in your device's Privacy settings.
No advertising. No advertising identifiers. No "personalization" of any kind. No accounts, no sign-up, no email collection.
No third-party SDKs that connect to outside services — not Firebase, not Mixpanel, not anything else of that shape.
The optional command-line tool.
On Mac, the app includes a small todayi command-line tool. You install it by copying a command from Settings → Advanced and running it in Terminal. It reads from and writes to the same local store as the app. It does not phone home; it does not connect to any network service.
Deleting your data.
Delete the app from a device, and that device's local copy is gone. If you delete the app from every device signed into your iCloud, and then delete the app's data from iCloud (Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage on iOS, or System Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage on Mac), the iCloud copy goes too. There's nothing held anywhere else for you to delete.
This website.
The pages at todayi.chickaloonapps.com are static HTML hosted by Amazon S3 and CloudFront. The site sets no cookies and runs no JavaScript that tracks you. Standard server access logs may be retained briefly by Amazon for operational reasons; they're not used for any purpose by us.
Children.
The app collects no personal information from anyone, of any age. It works the same way for a child as for an adult — there is nothing to collect, transmit, or share.
How this relates to the company policy.
Chickaloon Apps as a whole publishes a privacy policy at chickaloonapps.com/privacy.html. This page is at least as strict as that one, and adds details specific to Today I… — most notably the use of Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) for cross-device sync. If anything on the corporate page differs from this page, this page is the controlling document for the Today I… app.
Questions or concerns.
Write to nathan@chickaloonapps.com for anything specific to Today I…, or support@chickaloonapps.com for the broader company privacy contact. Real human replies. If anything in how the app handles data ever changes, this page changes with it, and the change is described plainly.
